Initial situation
Our client, a major world leader in providing news and insights in the financial sector, had a legacy reporting set-up with several disparate stand-alone systems and inconsistent data modelling practices across them. Many of the processes were manually executed, and some files were user-maintained.
This led to scalability issues and multiple failures. The client also had no historical data to track the evolution of their business KPIs.
Solution
The synvert team started with gathering business and technical requirements, gaining an understanding of the different information siloes and disparate reporting tools. We then created a unified design for integrating them into a single data platform.
Our team then deployed the platform on the AWS cloud, meeting the client’s stringent security stands and with a low overhead on infrastructure operations thanks to PaaS services. We also fully automated the client’s processes with ingestion of many data sources and batch jobs as well as near real-time pipelines; and implemented continuous integration & delivery (CI/CD) processes including Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
After optimising the client’s data modelling based on the synvert Methodology, we completed the cycle with training the client’s reporting team in the synvert BI Methodology in order to enable them to become the future owners of the AWS platform.

The client now has a unified, efficient BI & Big Data Platform on AWS that conforms to their security standards. They also have CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implemented, as well as a clear BI methodology which ensure that they are following industry best practices.
Their processes are now fully automated, saving them time and resources; as well as improving the frequency and efficiency of data delivery.
The new unified AWS data platform is fully scalable, and we have empowered the platform users and the client’s IT and reporting teams to maintain and evolve the platform, through effective knowledge transfer.
